As you know one of my favorite things is to add interest by mixing it up and the more the better. I was looking for something fun look to add interest to a dining room set and I ran across these so I thought I would share my finds with you. I found both of these online at Tov Furniture and at Birch Lane. Both of these would work great as head of table chairs to add interest and change up your dining table without breaking the bank!
Who doesn’t love a good chippy, distressed sign? Of course I love to rescue anything that is distressed and add a little new life to it! This week was busy with custom sign orders at The Striped Barn. I love doing signs because there is no end to the words, themes, colors you can create. You can be so creative with such a simple thing as a piece of wood! Adding a wood sign to your home creates texture and interest and is so simple! My favorite is to find the perfect location to hang my wood sign and then change it out according to seasons, holidays and occasions! Place your custom sign order at The Striped Barn!

You love the “Farmhouse Style” trend which has been around since “Fixer Upper” started ….thank you Chip and Joanna! And yes its here to stay! Maybe you want to add a few pieces to make your existing style a little more inviting or to add some texture and interest to your modern or traditional style without going full ship lap crazy…
One of my favorite ways to incorporate a little down home country into a home is to add rustic accessories! Wood signs are so easy and inexpensive and they can say anything you would like!
Maybe you love the look but think a sign that says “Farmhouse” is a little country overkill for your modern style? First of all don’t be afraid to mix, that is what creates interest. One of the most common things I run into as a designer is a home that doesn’t have enough texture. When you add texture it changes the whole feel of your space! The trick is to just add a little here and there. Try adding a cute wood sign like “Because I Said So” or “Kitchen” or the name or your town or family name. My all time favorite is “Bakery” because I love to bake! Signs can add the perfect rustic, texture element but don’t have to scream goats and chickens. The ideas are endless! You can also hang fun wood accents like an old piece of furniture or an old window. If wood isn’t your style then opt for some copper, metal or tin accessories. Textured rugs, pillows and throws are always a safe way to add an element of texture!
In weddings and events these signs have always been popular and mostly used for directing guests to different areas or showing the bride and grooms name. My favorite is adding distressed architectural features like furniture, windows and doors “outdoors”.

As you know Fall and Winter is my favorite time of year when the air is crisp and snow is falling…. but after the holidays and a few months into the year I am always ready for the warm sunny days of Spring and Summer!
I love that floral is so big this year and I am seeing it everywhere! I do love checks and plaids and I realized that my closet definitely reflects this. So this year I have decided to add more romance and femininity to my wardrobe by adding lots of it! So while I was on my floral quest I ran across these adorable cow and Pig necklaces! I just had to have them and they are now available on our website! I personally purchased one each for myself and I get compliments every time I wear one! As soon as I put it on I get a Spring in my step (no pun intended) 🙂

Happy February!
First, I am excited to announce our “Striped Barn” ball cap is now back in stock and available on our website!
I can’t believe Jan is already over! I have been busy working on some new products and designs and lost a whole month! We have some exciting signs coming and I can’t wait to introduce them to you!
Besides wedding season being right around the corner…. I am also starting in on summer and Fourth of July which will be here before we know it! That’s the one thing about events and products….you always have to think months ahead to the next season or you completely miss it!!
The only thing I do in real time is interior design projects. Even then I have to always think about designing for different seasons and the growth of the space, so technically you are still designing for the future. I drive everyone crazy because I am always thinking about the next thing or the next day. I think that’s just how we are wired as designers…always looking for the next thing!

Welcome 2018!…… 2017 has been a great year and I would like to thank you all for your support! I am so excited for the new year!! There are so many exciting things happening at “The Striped Barn” this year. Along with our exciting products we will be adding “Striped Barn Weddings” and “Striped Barn Design”. Its that time a year and we are as busy as elves creating our crystal magic! This year I have a new wreath design! It is an 18″ wreath covered in crystals and when you see it in person it is definitely a WOW! Its sure to make your space or event shine! Even though Valentines Day and wedding season are right around the corner, this month I want to enjoy the magic of the holidays and all it has to offer! I can’t believe its Thanksgiving next week! Even though we started preparing for Christmas months ahead, it still creeps up so fast every year! Yay, Labor Day weekend is over! Its finally September and it couldn’t come fast enough this year! This week we were having a triple digit heatwave while I was still getting out my Fall and Halloween decor!…Fall and Winter is my favorite time of year because of the weather and the holidays so I hope that was the big summer finale! Heat or no heat I am in Fall mode. I am ready for fireplaces, soup and lots of baking! Maybe if we all put out our Fall decorations Mother Nature will get the hint and turn down the thermostat.
I know its not the official start of Fall but for many of us it is the start of all things holiday. In the last few weeks I talked to many of you that were also excited for Fall decor but were waiting until September. Then today I started to see the Fall and Halloween Instagram posts and I was so excited! For me it starts about June or July and by August I’m holding myself back waiting for September to arrive. Because I do design,events and products I am always thinking ahead for new ideas and products and by September I am in Holiday panic mode to bring my creative ideas to life!
So I started in with my decorating today because I just couldn’t wait another minute, and I made this quick and easy wreath for my door. Check back often as we introduce new products and share exciting photos all through Fall and Winter. There is a reason its called the magical time of the year!!

What is it about farms and barns that is so alluring we turn to look when we pass them and wonder about their history? Is it the weathered wood, the nostalgia or history that reminds us of simpler times? Or is it the beauty of something so raw and rustic, that when completely exposed to mother nature and her elements has even more charming?
If you love rustic and all its charm it is easy to add it to your existing space. Rustic beams, reclaimed wood tables, re purposed wood, stone walls and fun architectural pieces will add rustic charm to any space.
