By The Striped Barn
As you know we love tablescape styling at The Striped Barn and love it when we get one that fits in our favorite genre of neutral and natural meets nature… we can really get excited over the fresh smell of rosemary and candles!! Recently we were able to do some tablescape dream styling at a company celebration luncheon that smelled like a spa and looked like a Mediterranean vacation. The vibe was farm to table meets I grow my own olive oil mixed with a touch of design sophistication.
We layered long white linen covered tables with fresh greenery, adorable little olive trees and lots of rosemary plants all nestled in terra cotta pots… and yes we literally planted them in terra cotta pots the day before. With 3 sizes of pots, we kept it low for guests except each table had a large center pot with olive trees, alyssum, rosemary and a whole lemon popped in. By combining these elements, it brought the whole table design together!
Chamomile flowers also joined the party and added a wild, whimsical touch they are one of my favorite go to’s.
Assorted textured pots are always a good idea, they are rustic with fashion sense, so they fit in anywhere. Just remember to always mix up the sizes, patterns and textures. It’s ok to have duplicates but don’t buy all the same.
Next, we added the touch of glam every party needs glass holders and flickering candles. We combined small glass votive candle holders and larger dish shaped candle holders. The larger holders were my favorite as they each had a flickering candle, chamomile flowers and a slice of lemon in each one, again…combining elements to bring the whole table together. Such a fun surprise!
Grouping and staggering is a big part of designing tablescapes. It’s the art of combining continuity and balance with random groupings within a design…once you do a few you’ll get the hang of it.
We used flameless flickering candles to ensure safety but there wasn’t one piece of fake greenery in site!
