Say Hello to the Western Farmhouse Style!

    on

We’ve all been obsessed with farmhouse style for years. From shiplap to rustic wooden accents, and white-washed colors, it was the aesthetic of choice for that perfect balance of rustic cozy. But, as with all good things, trends evolve…Our beloved farmhouse style has decided to add some sleek new boots to its overalls displaying a fresh new attitude!

Introducing: Western Farmhouse, the modern-day, slightly edgy, more masculine spin off of farmhouse.

We’re not giving up our farmhouse charm we are just embracing a bolder look, while keeping the black and bringing back the brown.

Don’t worry — the beloved textures of farmhouse aren’t going anywhere in fact were adding more textures and patterns! You’ll still find your signature wood beams, natural fibers, and leather details. But now there’s a little more edge, a little more serious, and a whole lot of attitude as texture is now showing up in unexpected places like backsplashes, showers, and walls!

Art is Powerful and Can Set the Tone of the Style

The Western Farmhouse doesn’t shy away from color. It embraces dark, rich tones that remind you of your favorite saddle tones that say, “I can still be rustic, but I also know how to drink whiskey neat and ride a horse with confidence.” Think deep browns, charcoal grays, and navy blues but…be sure to bring in the soft whites, light woods and the colors that once defined farmhouse style to keep the balance.

A Lot of Rustic and a Touch of Modern

Enter modern updates modern updates: sleek furniture, industrial touches, and maybe a few stainless steel appliances, because no cowboy’s ranch is complete without a spectacular kitchen. There’s a sense of masculinity here too, like “this is a space that feels strong, confident, and a little bit mysterious.” The balance of natural materials and modern lines gives the whole look a more refined but still rugged vibe.

Think of this style in terms of fashion; we have boots and clothes for riding and mucking…but we also have nicer boots and clothes for business and outings but you mix and match to create the perfect that feels strong, confident and a little mysterious. I don’t know about you but I mix and match all the time because that’s who I am, that’s my style…dresses with worn boots and jean jackets, worn jeans with refined boots and leather jackets…throw in some accessories and you have created the perfect style!

    Woods Welcome

Don’t worry, the things we loved about farmhouse style aren’t gone — they’re just becoming a little more…polished. You’ll still find hewed beams and reclaimed wood, but alongside darker, richer wood and striking stone. Leather, steel, and stone textures take center stage, making this space feel like it was designed for both comfort and adventure. It’s like if Clint Eastwood and Joanna Gaines decided to team up for a renovation show. (honestly, I’d watch that!)

And remember: even though it’s got a new name and a new look, it’s still the same cozy vibe we all know and love —farmhouse simplicity with cowboy swagger. Who doesn’t love cowboy swagger!

    Happy Designing!
