You know that old saying, “Were you born in a barn”? How fun would it be to say, “No but I live in one”!
A barndominium is a great way to have the ultimate rustic living style, it’s basically a wood structure with living quarters. Not where you keep your horses in the barn and have a room above it, although we would all love that…. These are reliable, luxurious, durable post-beam structures. For me it’s the open interior and dramatic tall, open ceilings. You can be connected to your horse stalls, tack room, feed room, garages, or work space. Just add a basement, decks and a front porch and you have it all!
Who wouldn’t want to live in an old refurbished barn, or a timber home that looks like a barn or has a large open living area? Its rustic meets modern with industrial flair. Its new and old and has something for everyone.
I Can’t drive by a barn without wanting to stop, get out and see what’s inside! Barndominiums are the perfect solution if you want to live where you work. Its more economic than having 2 separate spaces, and so much trendier!
I see a lot of builders embracing this concept by renovating old structures or designing new ones. I hope someday to be going over plans for my farmhouse, ranch or barndominium, just any home with character, lots of wood and surround by the open outdoors. But until then I love seeing all of yours!
I love how rustic design has taken over and all the new ideas and terms that go with it. Do you have any favorite rustic homes to share or any terms that we haven’t heard of?
